Silicon Carbide : (SiC)
Silicon carbide is a raw material synthesized in a resistance-type electric furnace at temperature exceeding 25000C, through the reaction of silica with carbon.
SiC has extreme hardness, sharpness and good thermal properties and hence it is employed as an abrasive and refractory material.
